Near neighbour Ben, who did not want his surname published, said he woke up to his house full of smoke.

“I looked over the back fence and I saw the shops on fire,” he said.

Ben said it wasn’t the first time the shop owners have been targeted by thugs.

“They’ve only just taken over a few months ago,” he said.

“A few months ago there was an incident where something was written on one of the side walls telling him in an impolite way to get out.

“That happen and now this has happened — so it’s kind of a coincidence.”

Ben said he doesn’t believe the fire was racially motivated.

Anyone with information about the blaze is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
